You can enjoy outdoor excitement or peace and quiet when you take a getaway to Missouri lakes. Our 14 major lakes are perfect places for motorboating, jet- and water-skiing, sailing, houseboating, swimming, parasailing and scuba diving. Anglers also can fish for a wide variety of species, from black bass and trout to walleye and muskellunge.

On shore, there's more of what you're looking for — whatever you're looking for! Some lakes, such as Table Rock, Taneycomo and Lake of the Ozarks, are surrounded by popular tourist areas that offer numerous attractions, including amusement parks, music shows and lots of shopping and dining options.

If you're looking for a quiet spot to relax, there are plenty of places to choose from at lakes managed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, such as Bull Shoals Lake. Development close to these lakes is restricted. Nearby communities provide the services travelers need, and many offer their own special attractions.
